About the Union
The Indiana Memorial Union, known on campus as the IMU, is a vibrant gathering place for students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests of the University.
In 1909, John Whittenberger, class of 1911, saw the need for an organization to bring about a spirit of collegiality on campus. Aided by President William Lowe Bryan and members of the faculty, the original “Indiana Union” was founded in 1909. Union Board was established at the first Indiana Union meeting with John Whittenberger as its president. Meetings, social events and other activities were all part of the newly organized union.
The IMU was voted the best place to have fun on campus! There’s always something happening at the IMU. Grab your friends and head to the IMU for some great fun.

Parking
(IMU Pay Lots 1 & 2)
Depending on day, time of year, and events currently on campus, parking availability varies. If you are planning an event at the Union, we recommend that you work with Meeting and Guest Services at (812) 855-1808 to make sure that all of your event parking needs are attended to.
The Indiana Memorial Union also has two pay lots. Lot 1 is located immediately to the east of the building. Lot 2 is located to the north, just across Seventh Street. Overnight guests of the Indiana Memorial Union Biddle Hotel & Conference Center enjoy complimentary parking.
Get validated for lower cost parking. Union customers, be sure to bring your parking ticket in for validation! Validation reduces the rates significantly. Rates effective August 24, 2009:

Complimentary Parking Rates
The discounted parking rate may be billed to a department or event account so the guest does not pay to park as they exit the lot.
Special Event Parking Rate
The special Event Parking Rate of $5.00 can be charged to the guests as they enter the lots on dates where there is a large function.
