About the Union Board

The Executive Team

President Andrew Dahlen

The President presides over the meetings of the Indiana Memorial Union Board and serves as the Chairperson of the Policy Affairs Committee. He attends and reports to the Union Board on proceedings of the Indiana Memorial Union Executive meetings. The President is responsible for speaking in an official capacity for the Union Board.


The Policy Committee, chaired by the president, meets on Fridays at 1:30 p.m. Composed of other Union Board directors, it reviews and proposes necessary changes to the Union Board constitution and By-laws. The policy committee also allocates office space to other student organizations within the Student Activities Tower.


Vice President for Programming Brian Holthouse

The Vice President for Programming chairs the Budgetary Affairs Committee and is the Chief Financial Officer of the Board. The Vice President for Programming is responsible for reevaluating the performance of each programming committee to ensure consistency with its mission statement and fiscal budget.

The Budgetary Affairs Committee meets on Wednesdays at 4:00pm. Composed of Union Board Directors it reviews program proposals, and develops the operating budget for the board.


Vice President for Membership Anna Williams

The Vice President for Membership is responsible for evaluating the recruitment and retention efforts for each programming committee and for the recording and distribution of the minutes of the Union Board meetings. Finally the Vice President for Membership is responsible for activities pertaining to alumni relations.

The Membership Committee is comprised of Union Board Directors and meets on Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. The committee is charged with recruitment and retention of Union Board members.

The Indiana Memorial Union Board is composed of 13 active programming committees, all of which work towards the continual fulfillment of our mission statement. The majority of the committees is responsible for the planning and execution of quality programs, however the Advertising Committee and Public Relations Committee function primarily as support for the entire Board.

We encourage you to get involved in a committee and to help decide what happens on your campus. All committee meetings are open, and all ideas are welcome. See you at the U!

To provide an expressive outlet for students by fostering and supporting the arts community. Through readership expansion and content diversification, Canvas aims to unite the student body of all Indiana University campuses and celebrate unique perspectives.

The Concerts committee exists to produce a diverse line-up of popular concerts that unite the IU community in the enjoyment of various musical acts.

The primary aim of international & cultural events is to educate & increase awareness about all aspects of many different cultures. To promote acceptance, create opportunities for students to become “cultural educators” and create a unified community vision for cultural acceptance.

Live From Bloomington – Nicole O'Neal

Live From Bloomington strives to connect the IU and Bloomington music community by providing programming for all-ages performances, collaborating with community events, and giving students the opportunity to gain experience in music industry operations and planning.  LFB aims to build pride and support for Bloomington's unique music scene.

The mission of the Outreach committee is to Seek out student organizations and campus departments that are interested in collaborating with Union Board to program events that complement our goals and benefit the campus community.

Performance & Comedy - Julie Singer

We strive to facilitate and encourage a wide variety of performances on campus including plays, musicals, spoken word, poetry, dance, sketch comedy, improvisation, stand up, and events relating to the field of performing arts including lectures and discussion regarding the importance and impact of performance on personal development, social and political issues, and improving cultural literacy on campus and in the community.
